Kendra Smith

Having previously played bass for 1980s psychedelic outfits the Dream Syndicate and Opal (who became Mazzy Star after she left), Kendra Smith moved to the woods of Northern California in the early '90s. Living in a small cabin without electricity, her sole 4AD release was Five Ways Of Disappearing: a 13-song collection melding psych, folk and dreampop styles. Kendra made two public appearances to support the album - a gig in New York, followed by an in-store in Hollywood - and then returned to the forest. She hasn't been heard from on record since.
